ROC is the first wine of this project, the first vintage in 2010 it was the wine with which Verónica Ortega started a life in Bierzo.
Coming from two very old plots of Mencía, located in Valtuille de Abajo in the” PARAJES” of El Couso and La Rata, both on clay-sandy soils with a high content of sand, confirming a more floral and elegant aromatic profile to Mencía grape, as well as a more precise size in the mouth.
Made with 100% whole bunch with stems, spontaneously fermented in a 5000L open wooden vat.
Worked manually during vinification only with pigeagge, trying to make the fermentation run slowly and the extraction that takes place in its course.
Maceration of around 28 days and pressed in a vertical press.
Aged for just over a year in 228L French oak barrels.
It is a serious, elegant and fresh Mencía, with a marked personality, it combines the mineral character of the Mencías del Bierzo with balsamic notes, violets and liquorice in the mouth we find red fruit, a solid weave of fine and defined tannins and a long journey in mouth.
