HACIENDA TERRA d'URO

"A legacy of old vines, passion, and the true spitit of Toro."

Hacienda Terra d'Uro belongs to the Toro Denomination of Origin (D.O. Toro). It is a project born from experience, passion, and deep respect for the land. Founded by Óscar Garrote, Cristiano Van Zeller, and Javier "Pipa" Ortega, the winery is built on three generations of grape-growing expertise, committed to creating wines that reflect their origin.

At Hacienda Terra d'Uro, everything starts in the vineyard. The focus is on Tinta de Toro, using grapes from pre-phylloxera vines, some over 150 years old. These vines, rooted in poor, stony soils at 750 meters altitude, thrive in a terroir that naturally limits yields, concentrating the flavors and structure of the grapes.

THE VINEYARDS

Finca El Romeral – Home to 144-year-old pre-phylloxera vines, this vineyard has extremely poor soil, resulting in very low yields. Its grapes are used exclusively for Terra d'Uro Selección.

Finca La Coscojosa – A 90-year-old pre-phylloxera vineyard with bush-trained vines, all planted with Tinta de Toro. Its limited production is dedicated to Uro.

Finca La Rana – A 25-year-old vineyard, planted with cuttings from El Romeral to preserve the original Tinta de Toro clone. Its production is used for Finca La Rana.

THE ENOLOGISTS

Cristiano Van Zeller – A respected enologist from Portugal’s Douro Valley, known for his work with Quinta do Noval and other top projects. His wines have consistently received 90+ ratings from Robert Parker.

Javier "Pipa" Ortega – An enologist from Valladolid with over 20 years of experience in Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. His approach is rooted in respecting the vines and crafting wines that express balance, character, and depth.

At Hacienda Terra d'Uro, every bottle tells the story of a vineyard, a tradition, and the land that makes it all possible.
