CASTILLO DE MONTE LA REINA

Castillo de Monte La Reina is a family legacy, a universe that encompasses wine, countryside and leisure.

Climate and topography of the area are determining factors on the character of the crops in Monte La Reina. A combination of natural value and producer, fostered by the richness and diversity of its ecosystem, makes the land have great agricultural value. All this adds up to its location in the Duero river banks and its carefully maintained hydraulic infrastructure.

A continental climate with cold winters and hot summers, altitudes around 750 m and strong changes of temperature between day and night provide the necessary climatic conditions for the grapes to acquire an excellent maturity, a sharp scent and a very balanced expression.

MONTE LA REINA IS A SMALL HIDDEN NATURAL UNIVERSE IN THE REGION OF TORO WITH TREASURES THAT ARE A REAL PLEASURE FOR ALL THE SENSES.

CENTENARY VINEYARDS

Monte La Reina has some of the oldest vineyards in Spain, over 100 years old. Thanks to the type of soil, phylloxera which attacked Europe at the end of the 19th century, did not manage to destroy the vineyards in the area of Toro. Being so sandy, the insect could not move forward and for this reason, this region is one of the few planted with ungrafted vines.

The grapes from these vineyards are used to make the high-end wines of the winery.
